Sweet Tooth Fairy Orange Roll Cupcake

This picture does not do this cupcake justice. It was a lot prettier when I bought it. I'm kicking myself for not snapping a pic before the cupcake went into it's cute little dome-topped cup. The cupcake tumbled within the cup during a fridge food stuffle. I went on a Utah County cupcake run a few days ago, but wasn't going to eat them all in one sitting. Even though I wanted to.

Here's another winning cupcake from Provo's Sweet Tooth Fairy Bakeshop. The flavor is orange roll, and when I was debating over which cupcake to order, the employees told me it tasted just like the orange rolls from Provo Bakery. I haven't had the Provo Bakery version, and I've only had homemade orange rolls a few times. I love orange rolls...it just seems that cinnamon rolls are much easier to find. I picked up one orange roll cupcake and one pumpkin chocolate chip cupcake to share with my daughter.

One common issue I have with cupcakes is that the frosting is excellently flavored and very sweet, but the cake is a big bland. Chocolate and vanilla are fine, but I prefer to find the more unusual cake flavors. This cupcake had a delightful orange aroma, that reminded me of wassail. The frosting was thickly slathered with a sprinkling of orange sugar crystals. It looked cute...cheery. I licked off some frosting and my eyes glazed over in sweet citrusy enchantment. When I took a bit of the cake with the frosting, and it only enhanced the satisfaction. The cake was very moist and soft, but not too crumbly, and it easily peeled out of it's paper wrapper. It really does taste like a freshly cooked orange roll with lots of glaze. It was a bit strange to have the taste of an orange roll, in cupcake form, but one of these cupcakes probably contains less calories than a large gooey sticky orange roll.

It's another winner for the Sweet Tooth Fairy!

Nicole Rates It...9/10

I tend to eat too much sweets that's why I frequently visit my dentist in Laurel. I love to make this orange roll cupcake but I should eat just a few bites or else I'll get toothaches again.
